Match Reports and Tables
Somerset County Bowls League - Men
Burnham on Sea B v Chew Stoke B
Saturday 7 June
No game for the A team this weekend whilst the B team travelled down to Burnham On Sea for an away game.
Overall a very close match with Burnham winning easily on one rink 29-17, Chew Stoke winning easily on another by 22-14 and the third rink being drawn 20-20.
This meant Burnham won by 63 to 59 and by 2 rinks to one. So 9 points to Burnham and 3 to Chew Stoke.
This, unfortunately, keeps Chew Stoke B firmly rooted to the bottom of the table, although with only three games played there's still a long way to go.
League Tables Week 6 - 7 June 2025

League Tables week 5 - 31 May 2025

Not a great weekend's bowling for Chew Stoke men unfortunately. Both the A and B teams were playing away from home, in the Somerset County league, with the A team at Burnham-on-Sea and the B team at Mark Moor
Unfortunately, we again had selection issues with B team members being drafted into the A team with the B team then struggling to pull a side together.
The A team lost by 65 shots to 49 winning on only 1 rink. 10 points to Burnham and 2 to Chew Stoke.
The B team fared even worse losing on all rinks and by 77 shots to 33. Mark Moor picking up all 12 points available.

A double header at home on Saturday 3 May as Chew Stoke A welcomed Clevedon Prom B and Chew Stoke B played Yatton B in the Somerset County Bowls League.
Chew Stoke A v Clevedon Prom B
Somerset County Bowls League - North 1

A friendly but tough game saw Chew Stoke A just hold on to defeat Clevedon Prom B by 63 shots to 59.
We won on 2 rinks and lost on 1 winning 10 points to Clevedon Prom's 2.

Chew Stoke B v Yatton B
Somerset County Bowls League - North 3
Not quite such a good result for Chew Stoke B as we lost by 41 shots to 75, winning on 1 rink and losing on 2. The points were reversed with Chew Stoke getting 2 points and Yatton 10.

Mens league results

A mixed bag for the 2024 season for Chew Stoke with the A team coming a respectable sixth in North 1 division, and only 1 point off of fifth place.
The B team, however, didn't fair quite so well coming bottom of North 3 winning only four games.
This is probably a reflection of the small number of players we currently have at our disposal in Chew Stoke with a number of B team players being asked to step into the A team when they were short of players. The fact that the A team still did well in their league reflects the quality of our bowlers albeit we lack a bit of strength in depth.
No doubt with an influx of new players for the 2025 season both teams will be able to show better results next year.
